P.F.P. the 'People First Party.'

"People are our greatest assett. People come first."

PEOPLE.

We believe people are more important than profit. More important than ANYTHING.
We believe that if you look after the people first, the rewards will flow on from there.
People make a country. Without them you have nothing but empty unproductive land.
Look after the people first, then the production will follow automatically from there.
If people are sick or poor, the country suffers also. We need fit and healthy people.
These people are happier, work better, enjoy life better, so everyone benefits. If they
are also wealthy, they can enjoy a much better lifestyle, and thus remain happier and
healthier. They also have more to spend, resulting in an improved economy and higher
employment. And in a bigger tax take to help pay for the running of the country by the

GOVERNMENT.

Governments are a necessary evil. They run the country on behalf of the people. (Well
somebody has to do it. It won't run itself.) Someone also has to pay for this to happen.
So funds are gathered in the form of taxes.    Currently there are a myriad form of taxes.
Even taxes on taxes themselves. We believe in the KISS principle. "Keep It Simple"
and thus keep administration costs lower. One tax only. One tax for all. A "Sellers" tax.
Somebody sells something, new or old, they pay tax on it. Simple and effective. There
would probably be three levels. For essentials, desirables and luxuries. Unlike GST.

TRADE.

We believe that New Zealand produced goods should first and foremost be provided to New Zealanders at as low a price as possible.    Only our excess goods should be sent away to overseas markets, or used to trade for items which can't be made here.
Look after ourselves first, at as little cost as possible. Not be tied to overseas prices.

ASSETTS.

We believe that all assetts within New Zealand should be NZ owned and operated. To that end we would either nationalise or take control of certain essential industries, and require that others are or become NZ owned and operated. Profits made in NZ must remain in NZ.

Notes.

This party was first started in the mid 1970's.    Two names were in common use,
"People First" and "Kiwi's First." Both names were later taken over by other groups
so we decided to change our name to the "People First Party."
We have no connection to any organisation using similar sounding names.

up the party so that others with similar ideals can get together to form a viable party.
